Constantia at a glance

One of the oldest areas in Cape Town, and indeed South Africa, Constantia is well known for its celebrated wine route, natural beauty and some of the Mother City's best restaurants. Located just 15 minutes form the city centre, the neighbourhood is also ideally located for those that work in the city, while on the weekends, you need not leave, with everything from shops and restaurants to lifestyle and outdoor pursuits catered for. There is little wonder that Constantia is considered prime real estate and a fantastic area for families looking to settle down.

Shopping

The Constantia Village shopping centre is a sprawling centre, combining the Old Village with the more current New Village, and providing residents with a wide range of options, from vintage clothing stores and handcrafted toys to large retail shopping experiences. The High Constantia centre based next to Groot Constantia has an old-time feel to it, and while it may not have as many stores as it's more high profile neighbour, it has a fantastic deli, boutique clothing store and a number of other artisanal offerings.

Restaurants and Bars

The hardest decision you will need to make is deciding on which restaurant to make a reservation at. The list is seemingly endless and continues to grow. From fine dining venues like the Chef's Kitchen at Beau Constania and La Colombe at Silvermist Estate to more relaxed, but no-less impressive spots like La Parada on Constantia Nek and Bistro Sixteen82 at Steenberg Estate, there is huge variety to choose from. The Constantia Wine Route is also world class with older farms like Groot - and Klein - Constantia combining with 'younger' estates like Constantia Glen and Eagle's Nest to create an incredible variety of experiences, including cellar tours, pairings and signature tastings. It could be argued, that outside of the city bowl, Constantia may boast some of the most impressive eateries and wine experiences in Cape Town. You will most definitely be spoilt for choice.

Schools
