Lakeside at a glance

Situated between West Lake and Muizenberg, Lakeside is perhaps best known for the properties built on the slopes of the imposing Steenberg Mountains and its proximity to the Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve. Nature and idyllic living conditions await you in this lovely Southern Suburbs area, with Muizenberg beach just a 10-minute drive away and a number of restaurants, shops and theatres, including the popular Masque Theatre in Muizenberg and the Kalk Bay Theatre close by. The joy of this area is that it feels miles away from the hub, providing a calming environment, while should you need anything at all, it's just a quick trip out.

Shopping

The Lakeside Centre has been re-developed over the past few years and provides locals with all the essentials, while the Blue Route Mall is just 10-miunutes drive away. The latter has everything you need, from large-name retail to smaller, bespoke stores and a cinema. There are a number of smaller shops in the area, while the neighbouring Muizenberg is home to some great surf shops and vintage clothing stores.

Restaurants and bars

There are plenty of restaurants and bars here, both in Lakeside and the surrounding areas, with the Old Bakery in Lakeside a favourite for lunch or a quick coffee, and a hub of activity for remote workers. Push further into Muizenberg and drop by the newly-energized beachfront with restaurants like Knead and Tiger's Milk at 'Surfer's Corner' both mainstays for locals and visitors alike.

Schools

There are a number of schools in Lakeside and surrounds, with Little Acorns Pre-Primary and Muizenberg Junior Pre-Primary both good options for the little ones, while Lakeside Montessori and Muizenberg Junior School are both close to central Lakeside. The neighbouring Kirstenhof Primary School is highly-regarded, while Reddam House Constantia is a private school based in nearby Steenberg, which caters for children in pre-primary all the way up to Grade 12.

Hospitals

The Melomed Tokai Private Hospital is a five-minute drive from Lakeside, while the Tokai Medicross is located right by Blue Route Mall, which is an additional five minutes by car.
